ITF Hammamet: All South Tyroleans eliminated

Verena Hofer kicked off against Swedish qualifier Julia Rosenqvist. The world number 1176 got off to a dream start against Hofer and promptly moved ahead to 4-1 with two breaks. The woman from Val Gardena then had to give her serve again to Rosenqvist, who shortly afterwards made it 6:1. Hofer recovered from this shock fairly quickly. With the score at 5:4, the 19-year-old managed the important break to make it 6:4. This match went into the third, decisive set. Here, however, Rosenqvist took the game back into his own hands, made it 3-0 with two breaks and thus set the stage for winning the match. The Swede didn't let anything go wrong and converted her first match point to make the final score 6-1.

Verena Meliss met the Italian Veronica Napolitano. She started the match better and secured the first set 6:4 thanks to an early break. The second half of the game was also very even at the beginning. But at 2:2 and 4:2, the woman from Kaltern had to give up her serve twice to Napolitano, who was able to celebrate the 1:30 victory after 6:2 hours of play.

Jasmin Ladurner, who slipped into the main draw thanks to a wild card, faced Sandra Zaniewska. The Pole played like a perfect match, but the Merano player didn't do much. After just 28 minutes, Zaniewska, seeded number 8 in Hammamet, secured the first set 6-1. The second period lasted just 19 minutes before the Pole used the match point to make it 6-0.

ITF Hammamet: All South Tyroleans eliminated

At the $15.000 tournament in Hammamet (Tunisia), the three South Tyrolean tennis players Verena Hofer, Verena Meliss and Jasmin Ladurner were all eliminated in the first round of the main draw on Tuesday.
