ITF Rungg: Prader and Weis in the third qualifying round

Erwin Tröbinger and Jonas Greif had already failed in the first qualifying round on Saturday. In addition, Jonas Ciechi had to pack his bags after a bye at the start of the second round against Michael Kerschbaumer. On Sunday Pietro Orlando Fellin from Brixen, Manfred Fellin's younger brother, was hit. The 16-year-old narrowly lost his second round match against Italian Nicola Vidal 2:6, 6:3, 4:6 after leading 4:2 in the third set.

Patrick Prader, however, had reason to celebrate. The 31-year-old from Barbian, who won his fourth Open tournament in a row in Brixen on Saturday, met Thomas Colautti from London, who is nine years his junior. The first set was very even and had to be decided in a tiebreak after Prader fended off a set point from the Brit at 4:5. Prader secured this with a lot of effort with 9:7. In the second set, Prader Colautti took serve in the eighth game to make it 5:3. Immediately afterwards, after 1:52 hours of play, he used his fourth match point to win 6-3. On Monday, Prader will face Tröbinger conqueror Edoardo Sardella in the second game after 9:30 a.m.

Alexander Weis from Bolzano was also in action in Rungg on Sunday and showed a strong performance. The number 2 in the qualification easily beat the Italian Lorenzo Seroddi 6:1, 6:2 in the second round and confirmed his recent strong form. Weis will also face Nicola Vidal in the second match after 9:30 a.m. in the third round on Monday.

On Monday the decision will be made in Rungg as to who will make it into the main field. In addition to Prader and Weis, Manuel Bernard, Sebastian Brzezinski and Michael Kerschbaumer are also playing for a place in the main draw. Afterwards there are also some first round matches in singles and doubles on the program.
