ITF Rungg: Safwat and Brkic in the final

Before the semi-finals, Jahn and Safwat had to catch up on their quarter-final matches on Friday morning, which were postponed or canceled on Thursday due to rain. Jahn won the German duel against Bolzano winner Matthias Bachinger surprisingly clearly with 6:3, 6:2, while Safwat only needed a few minutes to win two games against Adelchi Virgili to the final score of 6:2, 6:2. Safwat, number 2 on the seed list, also eliminated Weis conqueror Christian Lindell in the semifinals in a high-class match 7:6(4), 6:3. The German Jahn, on the other hand, had to admit defeat to the Bosnian Tomislav Brkic in three sets after 2:14 hours of play with 4:6, 6:3, 4:6. The final between Safwat and Brkic will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Alexander Weis misses double final Bolzano's Alexander Weis missed the doubles final with Italian Andrea Guerrieri on Friday afternoon. Weis/Guerrieri clearly lost in the semi-final against number 2 seeds Goncola Oliveira/David Pel (POR/NED) 2:6, 3:6 in just over an hour of play.

For Weis it was the second ITF doubles semi-final on the tour. Already on Wednesday, the 20-year-old from Talferstadt secured his second ATP doubles world ranking point by moving into the top four. Weis/Guerrieri missed the start of the match in the semi-finals and were already down 1-5 after just under half an hour. Oliveira/Pel left no stone unturned and clearly won the first set 6:2. They also moved ahead 3-1 in the second half of the game and used their first match point after just 64 minutes to make the final score 6-3.

Oliveira/Pel then won the final against Gianluca Di Nicola/Lorenzo Sonego 6:3, 6:2. The two “Azzurri” had previously defeated the tournament’s number 3, Christian Lindell/Federico Coria (SWE/ARG) 6:3, 6:3.
