At the $10.000 tournament in Sassuolo (Modena) Verena Meliss narrowly missed making it into the main draw. The 18-year-old from Kaltern, who plays for TC Rungg, lost on Monday in the second, decisive qualifying round against Natasha Piludu in three sets with 3:6, 6:2, 4:6.
