ITF St. Ulrich: Verena Hofer is in the doubles final

Hofer/Waltert defeated the German-Bulgarian duo Natalia Siedlsika/Julia Stamatova 55:6, 1:6 after 4 minutes of play in the semifinals on Thursday evening. In the final they will face Slovenia's Veronika Erjavec/Kristina Novak on Friday at 18 p.m. For Verena Hofer it is already the 7th ITF doubles final; she has won four of the previous 6 finals.

In the singles, however, the Val Gardena woman had to admit defeat to her doubles partner Simona Waltert (WTA 584) 4:6, 0:6 in the morning. Hofer led 4:3 with a break in the first set, but then collapsed, lost nine games in a row and lost 4:6, 0:6, also because Waltert came up big in the second half of the game.

The Swiss will meet the surprisingly strong German qualifier Nora Niedmers (WTA 14), who eliminated the Czech Michaela Bayerlova (WTA 1206) 603:6, 4:6, in the semi-finals on Friday at 1 p.m. In the second semi-final, another German, Natalia Siedliska, plays against Joanna Garland from Taipei, who knocked Mair conqueror Iva Zelic out of the competition 6:3, 6:2.

Verena Hofer and Simona Waltert are in the doubles final of the $15.000 tournament in St. Ulrich. In the singles, however, the 21-year-old from Val Gardena was eliminated in the quarterfinals against her Swiss doubles partner.
