ITF: Weis in Gubbio in the main draw, Fellin is still missing a win in Telavi

As in Telfs two weeks ago and in Kramsach last week, Alexander Weis also qualified for the $15.000 tournament in Gubbio on Sunday. The 20-year-old from Bolzano, who was only allowed to start thanks to a wild card from the organizers, clearly defeated his compatriot Edoardo Lamberti 6:3, 6:2 in the first round. It was his third win against Lombardi in the last 14 months on the ITF tour. In the second, decisive round, Weis benefited from his opponent's submission against Alessandro Cortegiani with a score of 6:4, 5:1. Now, in contrast to the two tournaments in Austria in the last two weeks, Weis hopes to be able to celebrate a victory in the main draw too. A completely solvable task, because on Monday at 18.30 p.m. he will meet the 17-year-old wild card player Andrea Militi Ribaldi, who will be playing on the tour for the first time.

However, there was nothing to gain in Gubbio for 20-year-old Horst Rieder from Völs, who was narrowly eliminated in the starting round against Tommaso Roggero 6:7(5), 4:6.

Tröbinger and Prinoth fail in Wels Erwin Tröbinger and Patric Prinoth from TC St-Christina-Wolkenstein competed in the qualification for another $15.000 tournament in Wels. Tröbinger survived the first round against the Austrian Markus Neuhauser 6:4, 6:3, but then failed against the Slovenian Sven Lah, number 14 on the seed list, 2:6, 3:6. Prinoth even had to play against top seed Nicolas Xiviller from Uruguay and lost 3:6, 4:6. Xiviller then moved into the main field without any problems.

The 20-year-old, seeded number 2, defeated local hero Sandro Svanidze 6-0, 6-1 in the opening round and will face Egor Matvievici from Moldova in the deciding round on Monday at 8 a.m. CEST.

Verena Hofer opens in Imola For the women, Verena Hofer from Val Gardena is waiting for her first-round opponent in the main draw at the $25.000 tournament in Imola. The 19-year-old from Ortisei received a wild card in Imola and will face a qualifier at the start.
