Jannik Sinner overjoyed: “Very special”

It wasn't fireworks that Jannik Sinner set off in Sofia on Saturday. The fact that his performance, which could not be compared to that of the quarter-final against Alex De Minaur, was still enough to win the title is proof of his extremely high basic level. He didn't have to show his best tennis over the entire distance to defeat the strong Vasek Pospisil. But in the important moments – like the decisive tiebreak – he did so. Good serves, precise returns as well as powerful and, above all, error-free groundstrokes brought him his first title at the first attempt.

“It’s always special when you win tournaments,” said Sinner after his last match of the season: “I felt good this week. Playing finals like this, with a tiebreak in the deciding set, is always difficult.
