Karin Knapp fails in the first round

While Andreas Seppi secured a place in the second round at the US Open on Monday, Karin Knapp had nothing to gain from the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the year this year. The 27-year-old Luttacher lost 26:4, 6:3 in the first round against the 6-year-old Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova, who already won the WTA tournament in Sydney this year.
