Köll and Mayr inspire at the tennis facility in Terlan

The participants thanked us with new records: 185 registrations (115 in the men's singles, 26 in the women's singles and 44 in the men's doubles) ensured unprecedented breadth and quality in the field of the popular tournament in the Weißweindorf.

Tournament favorite Philipp Köll prevailed in the men's third category after a high-class final in front of around 125 spectators against last year's winner Armin Mayr, while Sofia Selle (TC Gherdeina) denied Judith Rainalter (ASV Partschins) her second Terlan title in the women's final.

The top favorite for the title in the three-way tournament was Philipp Köll from ASV Partschins. As number 3 on the seeding list in the top half of the table, he played his way into the final with two confident victories over Leon Bini Zöschg (1:6, 0:6) and Werner Gurschler (1:6, 0:6). In the lower half of the grid, defending champion Mayr (Gries football club) marched to another final with extremely strong performances: first he defeated Matthias Kobler (2:6, 3:6) in the round of 2 and was in the round of 8 with 6:1 , 6:1 demonstration over the number 3 of the tournament, Cristiano Pavia, to increase again. However, Mayr always stayed with it thanks to an extremely concentrated performance and hit back late in the second round (7:5), before Köll stepped up a gear again in the deciding set and won 7:6 (4), 5:7, 6:1 could put the crown on. Afterwards we celebrated a bit of Köll(e) Alaaf in the white wine village.

In the final tournament of the 4th category, Alex Monauni (ASV Gargazon) and Simona Sedlak (TC Rungg) won over the two local heroes from Terlan Christian and Helene Pircher. Stefano Siddi (ATC Völs) and Christian Widmann (Tennis Brixen) took the crown as the top seeded duo in the very first doubles competition in Terlan. The two won the final against Florian Patauner (ATV Terlan) and Michael Vaia (ATC Tramin) 6:2, 6:2.

The Terlan FIT tennis tournament, held for the first time under the title of the “Margarete Maultasch Open” (MaMau Open for short), entered its 13th edition from July 24th to 8th. This year, in addition to the players from category 4, players from category 3 were also there for the first time.
