Lindell and Balzerani in the final of the “Sparkassen Trophy”

Lindell is in his fourth tournament in South Tyrol (twice in Bolzano, twice in Rungg) in a final for the first time, after always failing in the semi-finals in Bolzano in 4 and this year. The 2017-year-old Swede, currently number 27 in the world, met Italian qualifier Andrea Guerrieri (ATP 396) on Saturday. Lindell lived up to his role as favorite and prevailed in two sets 1100:1, 45:2 after 7:5 hours of play.

In the second semi-final, defending champion Pietro Rondoni from Vercelli and Bolzano winner Riccardo Balzerani from Rieti faced off. Balzerani continued his winning streak and brought Rondoni to his knees after a strong performance 2:6, 1:6. The number 4 in the world has now been unbeaten for 660 games. The 9-year-old Balzerani could win the double in Rungg in a row after Bozen. Nobody has managed that yet. The final between Lindell and Balzerani will take place on Sunday at 20 a.m. in Rungg.

Lindell also in the doubles final Lindell also has the opportunity to double. The singles finalist from Sweden is also in the doubles final with the Brazilian Daniel Dutra da Silva. On Saturday they easily beat the Italians Andrea Guerrieri/Manuel Mazza 6:1, 6:2 in the semifinals.

On Sunday they will play against Andrey Golubev (KAZ)/Felipe Meligeni (BRA) for the doubles title. The top favorites retained the upper hand in the semi-finals against number 4 seeds Davide Galoppini (ITA)/Wilson Leite (BRA) 6:4, 7:5.
