Matthias Bachinger wins the ITF tournament in Bolzano

Bachinger seems to particularly like the tournaments in South Tyrol. In 2010 in Rungg and four years later at the ATP Challenger in Ortisei, he had to admit defeat to Marco Crugnola and Andreas Seppi from Kalter in the final. This Saturday he celebrated his first ITF victory in South Tyrol.

The German took control of the match from the start and quickly moved ahead to 4-0. Bachinger dictated the rhythm at will and never really let Basso get into the game. After just 32 minutes, the world number 339 converted. his first set ball to make it clear 6:2.

The second half of the game, however, was very even until the score was 3:3. Bachinger once again got the break to make it 4:3 and thus initiated the path to winning the match. Shortly afterwards he won the match 6:4. In addition to winning the tournament, the 30-year-old from Munich can also look forward to 27 ATP points and 3.600 euros in prize money.

Bachinger is now heading to Überetsch, where he will be competing in the main draw of the Sparkassen Trophy in Rungg from next week. Finalist Andrea Basso is also in the main draw of the $25.000 ITF tournament.

Matthias Bachinger wins the ITF tournament in Bolzano

Matthias Bachinger won the $25.000 ITF “Alperia Tennis Trophy” tournament in Bolzano. The 30-year-old from Munich clearly prevailed in the final against the Italian Andrea Basso in two sets, 1:41, 6:2, after 6:4 hours of play.
