New York: Sinner misses the quarter-finals

Sinner, number 9 in the tournament and 199 in the world, was able to defeat the Chilean Marcelo Tomas Barrios Vera (ATP 2) in three sets after a bye at the start of round 280 on Wednesday. Sinner dominated the match, even secured a third break and closed the set with an ace to 1:14 after 6:1 hours of play.

From Krüger's point of view, the third, decisive set was quite even until 4:3. Sinner was unable to convert two break points in the third game, while the American took advantage of his only break chance to make it 4:3 when the score was 5:3. Krüger left no stone unturned on his own serve and won 6-3 after almost two hours of play.
