Seppi dominated the second half of the game, where he promptly took a 3-0 lead. Max Sartori's protégé didn't miss a beat on his own serve and took the set 6:3 points. This game therefore had to be decided in the third set, where Seppi again managed the early break to make it 2-1. However, Novak countered on the other side with the rebreak to equalize 2-2. In the seventh game, Seppi missed two break chances, but Novak did better, breaking the “Azzurro” straight away to make it 5:3. Seppi was already leading 5:2 and 6:5, but Novak fended off the South Tyrolean's match point and immediately won 8:6. A very bitter defeat for Seppi. So the South Tyrolean hopes in Belgium rest on Jannik Sinner, who is number 1 on the seeding list in Antwerp. The 20-year-old from Sesto has a bye at the start and will face the winner of the duel between Lorenzo Musetti (ATP 2) and Gianluca Mager (ATP 62) in round 73 on Wednesday.
