Pfeifer and Rizzi win titles in Eggen

Players from all over South Tyrol played in Eggen for nine days. Among the men, the top favorite from Nova Ponente, Wolfgang Pfeifer, prevailed. After he was able to eliminate the 4.1 player Stefan Laimer in the quarter-finals and local hero Christian Giraldi in the semi-finals, he clearly defeated Martin Aichner from Fiè in the final in two sets with 6:2, 6:2. Pfeifer didn't lose a set in the entire tournament and celebrated his second title in Eggen after 2015. Aichner, however, retained the upper hand in the quarterfinals against Paulsner Hannes Meraner, while in the semifinals he was able to prevail in three sets against Francesco Globo 4:6, 6:3, 7:5.

In the women's category, Valentina Rizzi (4.1) also lived up to her role as favorite. In the final, she narrowly defeated local hero Anna Pfeifer 3:6, 6:2, 6:4 in a hard-fought match. However, Pfeifer was the big surprise of the tournament. The young Eggerin first eliminated number 3 on the seed list, Nives Pompanin from Cavalese, in the quarter-finals with 3:6, 6:3, 6:4 and defeated number 2 seed Simona Sedlak in the semi-finals, again in three sets with 6: 4, 4:6, 6:4.

A doubles tournament was also held in Eggen. In a highly exciting final, the duo Antonio Angelini and Adolfo Deville prevailed in the third, decisive set against Klaus Ladinser/Stefan Laimer 2:6, 6:2, 7:6.

Pfeifer and Rizzi win titles in Eggen

At the weekend, the fourth stage of the “Dolomiticup 2017” tennis tournament in the 4th category in Eggen ended with the victories of Wolfgang Pfeifer and Valentina Rizzi. 85 participants took part in wonderful conditions.
