Prader/Gitzl win doubles tournament in Welsberg

Just a few hours after his final defeat at the Open tournament in Bruneck, the Barbian Prader won the traditional doubles in Welsberg with the Brixen Gitzl. The two Eisacktalers met defending champions Massimo Bertolini and Paolo Dagnino in the final. Dagnino was ranked 1393rd in the ATP world rankings and was the third best player in the tournament, while Bertolini from Verona was ranked 2014th in the doubles world rankings in May 36. However, they had no chance against Prader/Gitzl: the Eisacktalers were able to hold their own in two sets with 6:4, 6:3.

In the small final for third place, the top seeds Kirill Kivattsev from Russia and Thomas Berger from Puster beat Adelchi Virgili and Johannes Koeb from Völs 3:6, 2:6.

The men's doubles title in the 4th category, however, went to the duo from Treviso, Massimo Caneva and Alessandro Finco, who had the upper hand in the final against club president Pietro Baruchello and Peter Holzer with 7:6, 6:2. In the semi-final round, the Pusterers defeated the top seeds Lorenzo Montaruli and St. Georgen's football coach Patrizio Morini in the match tiebreak at the tournament.
