Rieder and Weis move into the main field

The Völser Rieder eliminated the South African Rikhardt Bierman 6:4, 6:3 in the second, decisive qualifying round in Israel today. Yesterday at the start, the TC Rungg player benefited from the challenge from Israeli Shahar Gabay, against whom he was already leading 6-0, 1-0. Who Rieder will face in the main draw still has to be drawn.

Alexander Weis already qualified for the main draw of Tabarka yesterday. The 22-year-old from Bolzano, who was seeded number 1 in Tunisia's qualification, first eliminated Iceland's Egil Sigurdsson 6:1, 6:1 and in the afternoon Rob Reynolds from New Zealand 6:1, 6:3. However, Weis was unlucky: In round 1, the South Tyrolean will face the number 2 seeded Swiss Jakub Paul, who is ranked 574th in the ATP world rankings.

Weis is in action this afternoon in doubles with Argentinian Nicolas Alberto Arreche. The Italian-Argentinian duo will face number 3 seeds Alexander Merino (PER)/Manuel Pena Lopez (ARG) in the starting round.

Trocker and Saccani fail in qualifying For Vickie Trocker and Silvia Saccani, however, the qualification ended in Padua and Tabarka respectively. Trocker from Völs lost in her ITF season debut against number 1 seeded Italian Dalila Spiteri 0:6, 0:6, while Saccani from Gaiser lost to compatriot Alessandra Simone 5:7, 3:6.
