Rungg celebrates a victory of will

Manuel and Valerio Gasbarri's team beat Perugia 4-2, securing their second success in a row in Serie A and catching up with the team from Umbria in the table. The victory has a special meaning for the South Tyroleans: not because there was a score to settle after the defeat in Perugia. Rather, a point win against the team that has shown the most consistency in the group so far is worth a lot in order to stay in the race for the playoffs.

The performance of the four individual players was crucial for the Rungger victory. Federico Gaio and Elmar Ejupovic met Francesco Passaro and Gian Marco Moroni in two difficult matches. “It was an extraordinary victory,” emphasized captain Manuel Gasbarri after the match: “I think beating Perugia is a feat considering the players they have. We are at the top of the table and our fate now depends on the match against Forte dei Marmi. In three days we are playing for our future, but we know that anything can happen given the standings. We won't know until next Sunday whether it will be playoffs, direct relegation or playout. I never thought we would have 7 points in a really tough group.”
