Salvatore Caruso wins Bolzano Futures tournament

Salvatore Caruso went into the final in Bolzano as the favorite. Not only because he is number 2 in Bolzano, but also because in the last three weeks on the ATP Challenger Tour he has reached the semi-finals twice (in Biella and San Benedetto) and once in the quarter-finals (in Recanati). In the end, the Sicilian was able to fully live up to his role as favorite.

Caruso had not yet lost a set at the tournament in Bolzano and this should not change in the final. In the third game of the first set he took his opponent's serve for the first time. However, he hit back a little later and equalized to 3:3 with a break. However, Carruso did not let this deter him. He secured the next three games in a row and thus also the first game period with a score of 6:3.

In the second set, both players served their serve safely until the score was 5:4 in Caruso's favor before he got the decisive break to win the match 6:3, 6:4 and was thus crowned tournament winner.

Marco Bortolotti, however, missed his third tournament win of the current season. The 24-year-old has already won two futures tournaments this year: in June he was victorious in Pantiani in Georgia and three weeks ago in Telfs.

Salvatore Caruso wins Bolzano Futures tournament

Salvatore Caruso won the $15.000 ITF Futures tournament on the clay courts of the Tennis Club Bozen on Saturday. In the final, the 22-year-old Sicilian defeated Marco Bortolotti from Guastalla, who was two years older than him, in two sets 6:3, 6:4 and thus secured victory.
