Sartori and Stifter win carnival tournament in Brixen

The favorites lived up to their role in almost all categories. In the U10, the two top seeds, Alessandro Forza from Levico and Lilli Marth, prevailed. In the final, Forza brought Mattia Spizzica from ATC Bruneck to her knees, Marth from Passeier was able to prevail against Aliz Mrva-Kovacs from Val Gardena. The biggest surprise of the tournament came from host Maria Carol. In the U12 category, the player from Brixen prevailed in the semi-finals against number 2 seed Greta Huber from Partschins 6:1, 6:3, and in the final she also defeated the top favorite from Val Gardena and last year's winner Greta Degli Angeli 6:2, 6:1 from the field. In the boys' U12 category, the title still went to Val Gardena. 4.2 player Samuel Haselrieder from TC Gherdeina retained the upper hand in the final against number 1 Riccardo Dallago from Grosseto in the Supertiebrak with 6:1, 2:6, 10:8. Previously, Haselrieder also eliminated host Marco Castiglioni in the super tiebreak. In the U14 girls competition, however, Lavinia Guerresco from Cortina was at the top. In the final, the player from ATC Bruneck brought Arianna Putzer from TC Gherdeina to her knees in a highly exciting match with 6:4, 3:6, 13:11. In the super tiebreak, Guerresco even had to fend off a match point. Jannik Santa (TC Rungg) from Eppan, however, defeated Thomas Dallapiazza from TC Bozen in the U14 boys final, also in the super tiebreak with 6:7, 7:6, 10:8. Santa fended off two match points in the second set. For the U16, both titles remained in Brixen. Lisa Maria Sartori from Welsberg, who trains with Andrea Bianchi in Brixen, was able to confidently assert herself in the final against U14 winner Guerresco 6:0, 6:4. Among the boys of the same age, top seed Niklas Stifter from Pfalzen, who plays for Brixen, celebrated a 7:6, 6:3 win against Jakob Andergassen from Kalter. Stifter kept the upper hand in the semi-final against Noah Schweitzer in two sets, Andergassen won the Überetscher derby against Jannik Santa in the super tiebreak. 166 players in the U10, 12, 14 and 16 age groups took part in the first of a total of 18 youth tournaments for the “Volksbank Grand Prix 2021” in the Brixen tennis hall.
