Andreas Seppi storms into the quarterfinals in Florida

On Wednesday afternoon in the second round, the Kalterer prevailed against the Australian Jordan Thompson, number 68 in the world, in three sets 1:45, 6:3 and 4:6 after 6:1 hours of play.

In the first game, the number 6 seeded South Tyrolean, who will be celebrating his 35th birthday on Thursday, managed to break in the third game to take a 2-1 lead. He then served his serve securely and took the set 33-6 with another break after just 3 minutes of play.

By reaching the quarterfinals, he secured $16.270 in prize money and 45 ATP points, with which he will return to the top 50 in the world rankings next week. Seppi will face the winner of the game between South African wild card Harris Lloyd (ATP 98) and Australian qualifier Daniel Evans (ATP 128) in the round of the top eight on Friday. Kalterer is also the favorite in this match.
