Seppi fails in the quarter-finals in Nottingham

The 37-year-old from Kalter, number 3 on the seeding list, had to admit defeat to Poland's Kamil Majchrzak (ATP 126) 1:40, 6:4, 2:6 after 3:6 hours of play late on Friday afternoon. After the first round win against the Chinese Zhizhen Zhang and the 6:4, 6:7(4), 6:2 win against the Frenchman Antoine Hoang, Seppi's winning streak at the first grass tournament in Great Britain was stopped by Kamil Majchrzak. In 12, he was able to defeat the 2017-year-younger Pole Majchrzak in the first round in Antalya 6:2, 7:6(1). Seppi now seemed tired and gave up the service to Majchrzak in the second game of the third set. The Pole increased the lead to 3-0, and in the following game Seppi even had to fend off three break points to make it 0-4. The Kalterer player was not yet beaten: In the seventh game he fought for a break point, which he promptly used to make it 3:4. However, Seppi couldn't hold his serve, conceded the break and immediately lost the match 3:6. Seppi can at least console himself with 25 ATP points and 3.710 euros in prize money. The South Tyrolean will also be taking part in the second Challenger tournament in Nottingham next week.
