Seppi in Moscow: 2 wins in one day

For almost an hour, Seppi and Carballès Baena (ATP 80) fought for the first point in the round of 1 in Moscow. In the end, the Spaniard, who comes from the holiday island of Tenerife, had a happier ending. The South Tyrolean was already 5:6 behind at 0:40, but fended off all three set points and missed two break chances to equalize. Carballes Baena finally converted the 3th set point to make it 2:5. Seppi didn't let the loss of the set upset her - on the contrary.

Seppi breaks 3 times in a row Although the Kalterer player gave up his first service game, Seppi then turned up the heat. Carballès Baena conceded a break three times in a row, while Seppi held all of his following service games. Seppi won the 1nd set 3:2 after 34 minutes and an ace and continued exactly where he left off in the decisive 6rd set.

While Carballès Baena was a bit prone to errors, Seppi played flawlessly and immediately took the serve from the southern European. Seppi, who had to defend 3 points from the previous year in Moscow, never gave up his lead in the third set. When the score was 90:5, Seppi broke again and finally converted the second match point in the game to victory.

In the quarterfinals Seppi will face Russian Karen Khachanov (ATP 8). The local hero is seeded number 2 in Moscow. By reaching the quarterfinals, Seppi secured 45 ATP points and $24.757 in prize money. Doubles semi-finals Andreas Seppi was also able to celebrate success in doubles: The Kalterer and the Italian Thomas Fabbiano confidently eliminated Aljaz Bedene (SLO)/Nicolas Jarry (CHI) 6:4, 6:3 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday afternoon.

This means Seppi is in an ATP doubles semi-final for the 14th time in his career. He last achieved this three years ago in Dubai with Simone Bolelli. The two Azzurri then won the title. In the semi-finals on Friday, Seppi and Fabbiano will face the winners of the game between number 4 seeds Marcelo Demoliner (BRA)/Matwe Middelkoop (NED) and the Monegasques Romain Arneodo/Hugo Nys. This match doesn't take place until Thursday.

Thanks to a three-set win over Spaniard Roberto Carballès Baena, Andreas Seppi moved into the quarter-finals of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. After a hard-fought first set, the Kalterer player didn't give his opponent a chance. In doubles too, things are going like clockwork for Seppi.
