Seppi meets Kohlschreiber in Munich

Seppi and Kohlschreiber are among the “old hands” on the ATP tour. Both are 35 years old and have already collected over 10 million euros in prize money, and the South Tyrolean and the German were already in the top 20 of the world rankings. Kohlschreiber is currently ranked 41st in the ATP rankings, Seppi is number 62 in the world.

Both players have faced each other eleven times in their careers, with Kohlschreiber just ahead with six wins. In the last meeting, however, Seppi won 6:7, 7:6, 6:3 in Moscow two years ago. The Kalterer also defeated Kohlschreiber at the Masters 2009 in Paris in 1000 and in Rotterdam and Eastbourne in 2012. The German, however, brought Seppi to his knees at the US Open in 2009, a year later at Roland Garros and in Doha in 2011, at the Masters 2013 in Paris in 1000 and in Dubai and Halle in 2014.

The “BMW Open by FWU” is Kohlschreiber’s favorite tournament. Here he has already been in the final six times, five times in the last seven seasons. He grabbed the trophy three times: in 2007 against Youzhni, in 2012 against Cilic and three years ago against Thiem. In 2013, however, he lost against Haas, in 2015 against Murray and last year against compatriot Zverev.

Seppi's 5th participation in Munich Seppi is taking part in the tournament in Munich for the fifth time. He achieved his best result five years ago when he reached the quarter-finals, where he was defeated by German Thommy Haas. This year the “Azzurro” wants to celebrate his first clay court win of the season in Munich after being eliminated in round 1 in both Monte Carlo and Budapest.

Seppi also plays doubles in Bavaria. With compatriot Marco Cecchinato he meets Danis Molchanov (UKR)/Igor Zelenay (SVK) in the starting round.

Seppi meets Kohlschreiber in Munich

Bad luck for Andreas Seppi at the ATP 250 clay court tournament in Munich. At the start, the 35-year-old from Kalteren will face the German Philipp Kohlschreiber (ATP 41), who has won this tournament three times.
