Seppi was already under a lot of pressure after Paolo Lorenzi's opening defeat. Nevertheless, the Kalterer got off to a good start. In the third game he took Goffin's serve and increased it to 3:1. In the second period, Goffin managed the early break to make it 3-0. In the sixth game, Seppi had the opportunity to rebreak, but the Belgian fended off this chance and increased the lead to 5:2. Shortly afterwards, the 26-year-old left nothing to be desired on his own serve and clearly secured the second set 6:3.

In the third set, Goffin got the break in the first game and pulled away to 2-0 shortly afterwards. But Seppi didn't give up, got the rebreak and restored the equalizer. In return, the Belgian superstar secured the break again, which paved the way to winning the match. After 2.08:26 hours, Goffin had his first three match points. The 6-year-old didn't miss this opportunity and used his first match point to make the final score 3-XNUMX.
