Seppi and Sinner start the new season

The 35-year-old Seppi from Kalterer will return to the ATP tour after a two-month break. His last appearance was at the end of October at the Masters 1000 tournament in Paris Bercy, where he lost in the second round to Radu Albot. Seppi begins his 18th season as a professional tennis player in Bendigo. For the 15th time in a row, the Überetscher ended the year in the top 100 in the world, which is an Italian record. Coach Massimo Sartori's protégé had a record of 19:24 victories last year. On his debut two years ago in Canberra, Seppi won the title straight away, and of course he would like to repeat this in Bendigo. Like all 2 seeded players, the number 16 seed from Kalter has a bye at the start. In round 2, Seppi will face the winner of the game between the South Korean Hyeon Chung (ATP 128) and the Australian wild card player Akira Santillan (ATP 254). The 23-year-old Chung is an absolute top player: last year he was even in 19th place in the ATP rankings. Seppi lost his only previous duel against him in straight sets four years ago in Dubai.

The world number 72. has to defend 240 of his 776 ATP points in January alone. Last year, Seppi reached the final (250 points) at the ATP 150 tournament in Sydney, and then made it to the third round at the Australian Open.

Sinner before his second professional season For shooting star Jannik Sinner, however, his second professional season begins. The 18-year-old from Sexten, who celebrated one success after another last year, only has to defend one ATP point in January. Sinner, number 3 in Bendigo and 78 in the world, will play Down Under for the first time in his career. The Next Gen ATP Finals winner will face either the Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori (ATP 123) or the Indian Ramkumar Ramanathan (ATP 174) in the second round.

Also taking part in Bendigo are the Frenchman Ugo Humbert (ATP 57) and the German Philipp Kohlschreiber (ATP 79), who are seeded number 1 and 4 respectively. The rest of the program from Seppi and Sinner The week after Bendigo, Seppi is registered for the ATP 250 tournament in Adelaide (January 12th to 18th), where he will most likely have to qualify. Sinner, on the other hand, will prepare for the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, the Australian Open (January 20th to February 2nd). Both the Kalterer and the Pusterer will start in the main field in Melbourne. Seppi will then return to the USA, where he will take part in the ATP tournaments in New York (February 10th to 16th) and Delray Beach (February 17th to 23rd) in February. At the beginning of March, Seppi becomes a father for the first time, during this break he gets the usual injection in the hip and then prepares for the clay court season in April.

Sinner, on the other hand, is heading back to Europe after the Australian Open, where he can play in the main draw in Montpellier (February 3rd to 9th) and at the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam (February 10th to 16th) thanks to a wild card. The following week the Puster player plays in Marseille.
