Women's Series A2: St. Georgen beats Palermo 4-0

After the 1:3 defeat a week ago against league leaders Faenza, the Pusterians wanted to get back to winning ways against Palermo. And they did it impressively, clearly defeating the guests from Sicily 4-0 and not giving up a single set. Palermo was missing the strong U18 player Federica Bilardo (2.2), but they had good individual players in Francesca Bernardi (2.4) and Francesca Brancato (2.5). The top match between Bernardi and Verena Hofer from Val Gardena (2.3) was also very exciting. Hofer was behind in both sets (4:5 in the first period and 0:4 in the second) but was ultimately able to prevail 7:5, 6:4. Captain Gabriella Polito, on the other hand, had no trouble with Francesca Brancato and won clearly 6:2, 6:3. Vera Ploner (2.4) won the third singles against the 2.7 player Simona Torchia 7:5, 7:5. Ploner then won the doubles with Verena Hofer against Francesca Brancato/Simona Torchia 7:6, 6:2. Next Sunday, May 22nd, St. Georgen will host bottom team Park Genova on the last matchday of the preliminary round, then the promotion play-off begins.

Bolzano has no play in the men's Serie B In the men's Serie B, TC Bozen Internorm had no games this weekend. Next Sunday Canottieri Nino Boxio from Piacenza will be a guest at the Talferstadt team.

Women's Series A2: St. Georgen beats Palermo 4-0

The ASC St. Georgen Raiffeisen shot away Palermo with 4-0 points at home on Whit Sunday and with this victory secured second place in the women's Serie A2 and thus also the home right in the first play-off promotion game.
