Series A2: Rungger men win, women separate with a draw

Even before the start of the championship, it was known that the two Rungger teams were among the closest favorites for both women and men. The men's team has already been given its role as favorites. Captain Manuel Gasbarri's team made a perfect debut and won 5-1 in Florence. The German Elmar Ejupovic and the Azzurro Marco Bortolotti and Moritz Trocker won their singles games comfortably, while the Völser Georg Winkler had to admit defeat to the 2.4 player Daniele Giorgini in three sets. Ejupovic/Bortolotti and Trocker/Sebastian Brzezinski then won the two doubles. A very strong performance from the Überetscher, who only lost one set in six games.

Women starts with a draw The women's team, however, started the Serie A2 championship with a draw. In Rungg the home team and co-favorites Cagliari drew 2-2. After three singles, the South Tyroleans were even ahead 2-1. After the Czech Paula Ormaechea gave up against the strong 0 player Basak Eraydin when the score was 1:1.3, the Swiss Susan Bandecchi and Verena Meliss from Kaltern put Rungg in the lead. In the doubles, Meliss/Bendecchi were already leading 5:2 in the match tiebreak against Eraydin/Dessolis, but in the end they had to admit defeat 6:7(5), 6:2, 7:10. So it remained a fair division of points. The Rungger teams started the national tennis team championship of the A2 series with one win and one draw. For the men, Moritz Trocker & Co. won 5-1 away at Match Ball Firenze, while the women's team played a 2-2 draw at home against TC Cagliari.
