Sinner disappointed against the Seppi conqueror

One day after that safe and convincing victory against the veteran Philipp Kohlschreiber Sinner presented himself against the clay court specialist Djere, who already Andreas Seppi was eliminated in qualifying, as if transformed – albeit in a negative sense. The confidence in the punches was gone - as was the confidence that he had shown on Wednesday. Unusually haphazard, he was unable to free himself from his opponent's grasp. Not even with the support of the spectators on the Center Court in Kitzbühel, who whipped the young South Tyrolean forward. Sinner lost 4:6 and 4:6. Pusterer misses the beginning While Djere was focused and powerful, Sinner had great difficulties from the first point. Neither the forehand nor the otherwise safe backhand went through as usual. The 19-year-old made a ton of mistakes on both sides, which his opponent punished coldly. A break in the first game of the game proved to be decisive in the set. The 4:6 from South Tyrol's point of view was flattering, because the Serb missed two more break points in the middle of the set. For his part, the South Tyrolean couldn't find a connection in his service games - he never sniffed out a break.

The spectators saw the same picture in the second half of the game. Djere was by no means irresistible, but Sinner simply couldn't get going. Again he lost his first game - and again the world number 81 didn't contribute much. Now the youngster was completely out of character and paved the way for Djere to unchallenged success. After another break and many mistakes, the 25-year-old pulled away unassailable to 4-0. In the meantime, the Serb even won 15 (!) points in a row. After 79 minutes, Djere used his first match point to make the final score 6:4, 6:4 and improved his record against Sinner to 2:0.

Sinner's performance raises some questions - especially when it comes to his fitness. Although he said Wednesday he had recovered from the injury, he appeared weak and sluggish Thursday. This inevitably affected the accuracy of his punches. We can only hope that he finds his best form again for the ATP 1000 tournament in Rome, for which he received a wildcard.
