Sinner in Cologne before the next test

Actually, Jannik Sinner should have started his beloved indoor tournament series in St. Petersburg. However, stomach pain prevented use. The 19-year-old has cured these problems, so nothing stands in the way of taking part in the ATP 250 tournament in Cologne. Despite being number 46 in the world, Sinner would have had to survive qualifying to get into the main draw due to a complex regulation. However, because he received a wildcard from the organizer, he saved himself additional effort. Sinner's opponent in the first round is Hubert Hurkacz. The world number 1. is a solid player who, despite his height (31 m), moves well and is at home on fast surfaces. Last week the Pole reached the quarterfinals in Cologne (two tournaments take place in the German city within two weeks). This means that, unlike Sinner, he was able to adapt well to the conditions there. Because the man from Sexten prefers indoor tournaments on hard courts, the starting position is still open. Seppi meets old acquaintances Andreas Seppi, on the other hand, is playing at the tournament in which Sinner reached the semi-finals last year. In Antwerp, the South Tyrolean has to go through the qualification and meets the Portuguese Joao Sousa (ATP 80). This duel has already taken place 4 times. The balance is even at 2:2, with the Kalterer player winning the last two duels. Getting into the main draw would be extremely important for the veteran, as he is currently not in the top 100 in the world rankings and therefore has to worry about taking part in next year's Australian Open.
