Sinner and Weis in Sardinia in the semi-finals

The 17-year-old Jannik Sinner from Sesto, number 1 on the seed list, met the Russian Ronald Slobodchikov, who is eight years older than him, in the quarterfinals. The first set was very even: Sinner was 3:5 behind, but then won three games in a row to take the lead 6:5. Immediately afterwards, the Pusterer lost his service again to make it 6:6. In the tiebreak, Sinner showed better nerves and clearly won 7:1. In the second half of the game, the South Tyrolean promptly moved ahead 4-0 before Slobodchikov had to retire due to injury after 1:26 hours of play. Sinner is now in the semi-finals, where he will face number 5 seed Fabrizio Ornago on Saturday. At the start of the tournament, the Italian eliminated Alexander Weis in three hard-fought sets.

But Weis is still in the race in doubles. The 21-year-old from Bolzano also made it to the semi-finals there on Friday. Weis and his compatriot Luigi Sorrentino prevailed in the quarterfinals against the number 3 seeded Romanians Bogdan Apostol/Luca Tatomir in the super tiebreak with 6:0, 6:7(0), 10:6. In the semi-finals the “Azzurri” will face their compatriots Marco Bortolotti/Nicolo Turchetti on Saturday.

Winkler in the double semi-finals in Antalya Georg Winkler made it to the doubles semi-finals at the $15.000 tournament in Antalya on Thursday. After the match on Friday had to be postponed due to the constant rain, the Völser and his compatriot Luca Tomasetto will meet the Russians Shalva Dzhanashiya and Denis Klok in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Jannik Sinner reached the semi-finals of the $25.000 ITF tournament in Santa Margherita di Pula on Friday evening. Alexander Weis also got his double semi-final ticket in Sardinia.
