Sinner loses to the surprise man

Sinner (ATP 82) lost on Wednesday morning (CET) against Fucsovics (ATP 67) after 2:17 hours of play in 3 sets with 4:6, 4:6 and 3:6. The Hungarian, who had surprisingly eliminated Canadian Denis Shapovalov, seeded number 1, in the first round, moved into the next round. For Sinner, who reached the second round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time, the tournament is over.

The course of the game Fucsovics also played strong tennis on Wednesday morning and took the lead 2-1 with an early break. Again in the 2th game it was the Hungarian who took the service from the sixth team to make it 7:4. Sinner's resistance was thus broken. After 3:2 hours of play, Fucsovics, always on service from Sinner, converted his first match point to make the final score 17:6. Back to Europe Sinner takes away 45 ATP points and a total of 79.347 euros in prize money from Melbourne. The Pusterer will improve a few positions in the world rankings and achieve a new “Best Ranking”. The man from Sexten will now take a break for almost two weeks and will then play in Montpellier (February 3rd to 9th) and at the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam (February 10th to 16th) thanks to a wild card in the main draw.
