Sinner crumbles his next record and dreams of Turin

At the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, the US Open, Jannik Sinner reached the round of 16, where he was defeated by Alexander Zverev. For making it into the top 265.000, Sinner not only received $220.000 in prize money (around 180 euros), but also 20 world ranking points. The 16-year-old therefore worked his way up from 14th to XNUMXth place in the ATP computer. Sinner – and no other South Tyrolean – has never been this high up. Sinner is slowly but surely making its way to the top 10. And: He has a chance of being at the ATP Finals – the most important tennis tournament after the Grand Slams – in Turin in mid-November. The best 8 professionals of the current season are playing there. Sinner is currently in 2255th place in this particular ranking with 10 points (actually 11th, but Rafael Nadal has already ended his season and is therefore no longer an option). In front of him are three in-form professionals, Casper Ruud (Norway, 2675 points), Hubert Hurkacz (Poland, 2505) and Felix Auger-Aliassime (Canada, 2320), but they are all still within reach. Sinner is 8 points short of Hurkacz, who is in 250th place in the adjusted rankings. Seppi maintains his place If Sinner doesn't make it to the ATP Finals, he could still play in the Next Gen Finals, where his star rose two years ago. Until then, there are still a few tournaments coming up. He is skipping the ATP 250 tournament in Metz, but will play in Sofia from September 27th and start there as defending champion. Afterwards, participation in Indian Wells (October 7th to 17th) and Antwerp (October 18th to 24th) are planned. Andreas Seppi also has a lot to do this year. Next week he will be in the peloton in Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan. After his phenomenal performances at the US Open, which took him to the third round, the Kalter tennis professional will most likely spend the winter in the top 100. In the ATP ranking he has improved by one place to 88th place. If you consider that the 37-year-old veteran was still in 108th position at the beginning of the year and even thought about retiring after the botched Australian Open, that is a very impressive achievement that shows what Seppi is made of.
