St. Georgen draws again, Bolzano celebrates its second win

In the women's A2 series, St. Georgen took a point from promotion candidate Canottieri Casale on Sunday. The guests from Piedmont played without their top player Diana Marcinkevica from Latvia (number 329 in the world), but at least they had two 2.2 players in the squad: Irina Smirnova and Paola Cigui. Smirnova gave Verena Hofer from Val Gardena no chance and defeated her 6:1, 6:2, while Cigui lost to Gabriella Polito (2.5) 4:6, 2:6. The Puster captain remains undefeated in this championship. She is in excellent shape, has won all five singles matches and has never dropped a set. Vera Ploner got the second point for St. Georgen against Sara Simbula 6:1, 6:0. Verena Hofer/Gabriella Polito then lost against Irina Smirnova/Paola Cigui 2:6, 3:6 and the match ended 2:2. It is the Pusteria's third draw in the fifth game.

Serie B: Second win in a row for TC Bozen The TC Bozen, on the other hand, seems to have really gotten into shape. After last Sunday's away win in Mosciano Sant'Angelo, the Talferstadt team clearly won at home against bottom of the table Country Time Club Palermo with 6-0 points. Only Philipp Köll from Merano had to go into the third set against the 2.4 player Antonio Terzo, but then he retained the upper hand 6:2, 4:6, 6:4. The Tyrolean Armin Sandbichler, Stefan Knapp and Aliosha Bona, however, won their singles in two sets. With this victory, Bolzano maintains its chance of third place in the table. Next Sunday, table leaders Albinea will be guests at Martin-Knoller-Straße in the last group game.

St. Georgen draws again, Bolzano celebrates its second win

On the sixth and penultimate matchday of the national tennis championships, both South Tyrolean teams had a home game. St. Georgen drew 2-2 with Canottieri Casale in the women's Serie A2, while TC Bozen celebrated their second win in a row in the men's Serie B against Country Time Club Palermo.
