St. Georgen and Bozen start the national team championship

Both leagues play in groups of seven. The bottom team in the group is relegated directly, the teams in the first three places play in the play-off for promotion, while the teams in fourth to sixth place fight in the play-out to stay in the league.

St. Georgen in the women's Serie A 2 St. Georgen competes in the women's A2 series with the same team as last year. The two strongest players are Gabriella Polito from Liguria, who is entering her eleventh season in the Pustertal, and the 18-year-old Verena Hofer from Val Gardena. Both are 2.3 players. Also taking part are the Slovenian Anja Prislan, national champion Vera Ploner (both 2.4), Jeannine Hopfgartner (2.5) and Silvia Saccani (2.6). The goal of the Puster women is to stay in the league, the strongest team is CT Bologna. For St. Georgen, the championship begins on Sunday away in Rome against Ferratella, the first home game takes place on April 17th against Bologna.

Prader and Holzer in the men's A2 series There is no South Tyrolean team registered in the men's A2 series, but there are two local players. The Barbian Patrick Prader (2.1) strengthens the TC Pistoia, while the Kalterer Thomas Holzer (2.3) is number 2 at the CT Rovereto. Both play in District 3, and there will be a direct duel in Pistoia on April 24th.

Bolzano in the men's Serie B The Tennis Club Bozen has two new players in the men's Serie B this year, Joy Vigani from Brixen (2.5) and Nicola Rispoli from Meran (2.6). The number one in Bolzano is Philipp Köll (2.4), the squad also includes captain Andrea Capodimonte, Stefan Knapp, Aliosha Bona (all 2.8) and Alex Laimer (3.3). Bolzano also begins the championship with an away match. On Sunday the Talferstädter will be guests at Park Genoa. A week later, on April 10th, TC Bozen will welcome Poggibonsi at home.

Also Fellin, Weiss and Wolf in Series B Three more South Tyroleans are taking part in Serie B this year. Manfred Fellin (2.5) from Brixen plays in Parabiago, Alexander Weiss (2.4) and Matthias Wolf (2.5) in Trento. A total of 15 South Tyroleans will be in action in Series A2 and Series B from Sunday.
