Favorite victories at the Open tournament in Brunico

In the men's category, 27-year-old professional Marco Bortolotti from Guastalla, who plays for TC Rungg, lived up to his role as favorite. After the clear victories in the quarter-finals against Mattia Merli and in the semi-finals against Paolo Dagnino, he defeated the world number 546. In the final, Barbian-born Patrick Prader also clearly defeated 6:2 and 6:2. Bortolotti thus secured prize money of 600 euros.

As in the last two years, Pusterian Julia Mayr secured the women's title. The Olanger woman celebrated her 27th birthday a week ago and eight years ago she was number 215 in the WTA world rankings. In January 2013, she unexpectedly withdrew from active tennis. After her return, she contested the Serie B championship with Mestre this year and achieved promotion to Serie A2. Mayr won all singles and doubles matches and never lost a set. Her opponents also had no chance in Bruneck. She only played two games in the entire tournament. In the final, Mayr defeated Sri Lanka's Karthiga Thavarajasingam 6-0 and 6-0. Favetti and Rocca wins in the 3rd category In the 3rd category, Lombard Marco Favetti and Francesca Rocca from TV Niederdorf won the tournament. Surprising winner in the 4th category In the 4th women's category, the “Kronplatz Trophy” went to 13-year-old Giorgia Dalle Grave from TC Ladinia. In both the semi-finals and the final she was only able to prevail in the third set against Claudia Berger and Edith Oberhuber from Kiensen.

In the men's event, the Roman Micael Caviglia won the final against the Lombard Fabrizio Musitelli 6:2, 2:6, 6:4. The two Pusterers Hannes Lanz and Arnold Harrasser failed in the semi-finals. Favorite victories at the Open tournament in Brunico

The two top seeds, Marco Bortolotti and Julia Mayr, won the “Hardimitz'n” open tournament in Bruneck on Sunday. A total of 250 players took part in the traditional Puster tournament.
