Frediani and Steiner win titles in Neumarkt

Players from all over South Tyrol played in Neumarkt for nine days. In the men's event, Frediani first defeated Robert Zanotti from Neumarkt in the quarter-finals and then his team-mate Walter Brunner in the semi-finals. In the final he defeated another Montanan, Oliver Obrist, in two sets 6:3, 6:3. The 45-year-old Frediani didn't give up a single set throughout the entire tournament. In the quarterfinals, Obrist had the upper hand in the third set against Stefan Thaler from Gries, but then defeated number 3 seed Christian Girardi from Eggen 6:1, 6:4 in the semifinals.

In the women's category, the 12-year-old 4.3 player Finja Steiner won the title. The Tramin native, who plays for TC Rungg, confidently won the final against Bruneck-born Karin Oberparleitner, who lives in the Fassa Valley, 6:2, 6:2. On the way to the title, Steiner eliminated the Unterlander Johanna Mayr in the quarterfinals and in the semifinals she put the 15-year-old Völser Lia Kleinrubatscher in her place with 6:3, 6:3. Oberparleitner, however, defeated Bettina Pezzin from Cavalese in two sets in the semifinals.

A doubles tournament was also held in Neumarkt. In the final, Andrea Scalet from Neumarkt and Stefan Thaler from Gries prevailed in two sets against the home team Lukas Mayr and Karim D'Angelo 6:2, 6:3.

Frediani and Steiner win titles in Neumarkt

At the weekend, the third stage of the “Dolomiticup” tennis tournament in the 4th category in Neumarkt came to an end with the victories of Luca Frediani from Montana and Finja Steiner from Tramin. In wonderful weather, almost 120 participants took part in the Unterland.
