Big crowd at the senior tournament in Marling

The Burggräfler organized a senior tournament for the first time in the club's history. Only Sabine Stürz lived up to her role as favorite. The 3.4 player from St. Pauls, who plays for Terlan, prevailed in the Over 40 Women's final against local hero Miriam Tavernini in two sets 6:1, 7:6. In the semi-final, Stürz brought another player from ASV Marling, Marie Frühauf, to her knees 6:3, 6:3, while Tavernini shot Elisabeth Schleiss from Trent from the field in the second semi-final with 6:1, 6:0.

In the men's Over-45 final there was a duel between top seed Gianni Modonesi from Meran and Davide Tagliari from Trento. Modonesi really wanted to play in this age group, even though he is already 71. He is currently ranked 70th in the Over 195 world rankings. In the end, Tagliari, who was seeded number 3, was able to prevail in a highly exciting match after almost four hours of play and being down one set with 3:6, 6:4, 7:5.

The final of the Over 55 men was also very exciting, where the two Meran teammates Luciano Boscolo and Marco Endrizzi faced each other. Ultimately, the 3.5 player Boscolo prevailed against favorite Endrizzi 6:1, 1:6, 6:3. In the semifinals, Boscolo was able to hold his own against Gerhard Mayr from Algunder in two sets, while Endrizzi easily reached the final with 6:1, 6:1 against Helmuth Oberhauser.

In the Over 65 men's category, victory went to Bolzano. Franco Tommasini, number 2 on the seed list, clearly defeated local hero and tournament favorite Leo Götsch 6:1, 6:3 in the final.
