ITF St. Christina: Jannik Sinner in round two

Jannik Sinner met the Italian Gianluca Acquaroli in the first round and made short work of it: three days before his 17th birthday, Sinner shot the Italian away 6:1 and 6:2. In the second round, the Sesto native will face the winner of the game, Manfred Fellin (Brixen) against number 3 in the tournament, Lorenzo Frigerio (ITA).

Moritz Trocker from TC Rungg, however, was eliminated 1:6 and 2:6 against the Russian Kirill Kivattsev (6). The Brixen wildcard player Michael Kerschbaumer also had his final stop on Monday against the qualifier Luca Tomasetto (ITA). In a hard-fought match, Kerschbaumer lost 6:7(5) and 2:6.

In doubles, Michael Kerschbaumer/Erwin Tröbinger lost to Alessio Giannuzzi/Stefano Reitano (ITA) 3:6 and 6:7(4). The duo Patric Prinoth/Moritz Trocker also suffered a 4:6 and 3:6 defeat against the Italians Claudio Fortuna/Lorenzo Frigerio. Joy Vigani from Brixen, on the other hand, survived the first round with Ukrainian Daniil Zarichanskyy against Mattia Bellucci/Ferderico Marchetti (ITA) 7:5 and 6:3. Jannik Sinner and Giacomo Dambrosi prevailed against Riccardo Di Nocera/Davide Tortora 6:2 and 7:5.

On Tuesday, six South Tyroleans will play in Val Gardena: Horst Rieder from Völs will meet the Serb Darko Jandric from 9.30 a.m., Georg Winkler will then play against Davide Pontoglio (ITA), and in the South Tyrolean duel Alexander Weis (4) from Bolzano will face local hero Patric Prinoth. Joy Vigani will face the tournament's number 7, Claudio Fortuna, in the first round, and Manfred Fellin will face the tournament's number 3, Lorenzo Frigerio.
