Rungg and Meran dominate the Volksbank Youth State Championships

These two clubs dominated the state championships last year. TC Rungg won the U14 age group with Lena Untertrifaller and Maximilian Figl, while in the U13 girls Julia Peer defeated Lucia Panin from TC Kaltern 6:3, 6:2 in the final. Lotte Mulser won the U10 girls final against her Rungger team colleague Iris Tabarelli 6:3, 6:2.

Nicole Gagliardi, Laura Pecoraro and Jonas Masten took the Meran victories. Gagliardi beat passer Greta Gufler in three sets in the U12 final, while Pecoraro defeated her teammate Gloria Endrizzi 11-6, 0-6 in the U3 final. Jonas Masten from Meran, on the other hand, defeated Kilian Dallpiazza from Ladin in three sets in the U12 category with 6:1, 1:6, 6:3.

Lukas Palla from Kalter defeated Rungger Leonardo Kolbe in the U13 category (6:2, 6:3), while Daniel Lechner from Bolzano won the title without a fight in the U11 final after Christian Bacher withdrew due to injury. The U10 boys final went to Kevin Vinatzer from ATC Ladinia, who defeated Sterzinger Jannik Santa 6:1, 6:1.

Manuel Plunger and Anna Santa U16 national champions The main focus in Meran was on the U16 age group: The 2.8 player Manuel Plunger from ASV Partschins won the boys' final in the third set against Rungger Tobias Kirchlechner 6:3, 4:6, 6:0. Kirchlechner's teammate Anna Santa won the girls' competition. Santa brought her teammate, Vickie Trocker from Völs, to her knees 6:1, 7:6.

The new national champions as well as the U12, U14 and U16 finalists also secured their ticket to the Italian Championship. Due to their ranking, Lara Pfeifer and Franziska Daum were already directly qualified.

Rungg and Meran dominate the Volksbank Youth State Championships

The best local young tennis players determined the South Tyrolean youth champions at the “Volksbank” state championship in Meran this week. The U10 to U16 year olds competed against each other in twelve categories, with Rungg winning five and Meran three of the 12 titles.
