Series C: Rungg and Meran are the new national champions

The men's final today in Rungg between the hosts and TC Gherdeina was pure excitement. In a real marathon final that lasted over 12 hours, Rungg, like last week in the semi-final against Meran, only prevailed in the deciding doubles with 4:3. Once again it was the young Sebastian Brzezinski and the former Davis Cup double player Massimo Bertolini who took all four points for the Überetscher. First they won their two singles games against Patric Prinoth and Jonas Ciechi, then they also prevailed in the doubles, always in the third set. With this victory, Rungg also qualified for the Italian championship. TC Bruneck was already confirmed to be relegated to the D1 series before today's matchday.

Meran wins the women's Serie C The women's Serie C ended with a huge surprise. Although Meran, today without Julia Thiem, was shot down 0-4 away by TC Gemeinde Bozen on the last matchday, the Passerstädter women won the national championship title, as Brixen, without Pia König, did not manage to score 2-2 at home against the bottom of the table, Bozen. Both teams finished the championship in first place in the table with 7 points and won 12 and lost 8 games. The direct duel also ended in a 2-2 draw. The title goes to the Merano women, who were able to celebrate one more victory in the championship than the Brixen women. Meran won three of the five matches played (with one draw and one defeat), Brixen won two (with three draws). On June 3rd, Merano will play the regional final against the winner from Trentino, the winner will qualify for the Italian championship. St. Georgen, on the other hand, has to be relegated. The Pusterians had to withdraw from Serie C after Villgratter's injury. Series C: Rungg and Meran are the new national champions

TC Rungg for men and TC Meran for women are the new Serie C national champions. It is the third title win for both teams: Rungg was crowned national champion for men in 2010 and 2017, while Meran won for women in 1981 and 1995.
