The main field in St. Christina is ready

The final qualifying round took place in St. Christina on Sunday. Number 4 seed Moritz Trocker beat Italian Alessio Giannuzzi 7:5, 6:1, number 5 Horst Rieder beat Mattia Lotti 6:2, 6:4. Sebastian Brzezinski, on the other hand, had to clearly admit defeat to Luca Tomasetto 1:6, 3:6.

The main draw with a total of nine South Tyroleans was then drawn in St. Christina. This is a new record: so many local players have never been in the main draw of an ITF tournament. Three South Tyroleans will play their first round match on Monday. At 9.30 a.m., qualifier Trocker will face number 6 seeded Russian Kirill Kivattsev (ATP 917) and the 16-year-old Jannik Sinner from Sexten will face Gianluca Aquaroli (ATP 1490). Then Michael Kerschbaumer from Brixen, who trains in Val Gardena, plays on Tomasetto.

The remaining six South Tyroleans will then be in action on Tuesday. In the only “derby”, number 4 seed Alexander Weis from Bolzano will play against local hero Patric Prinoth. Horst Rieder was drawn with the Serb Darko Jandric (ATP 1188) and Georg Winkler with the Italian Davide Pontoglio (ATP 1853). Manfred Fellin and Joy Vigani from Brixen, on the other hand, faced tough opponents. Fellin will face number 3 on the seed list, Lorenzo Frigerio (ATP 804), Vigani will face number 7, Claudio Fortuna (ATP 932).
