He is in 301st place in the world rankings, ten places ahead of Roberto Ortega-Olmedo, who is number two in Bolzano. Meanwhile, Matteo Viola is the highest-ranked Italian (ATP 329). Last year's finalist Marco Bortolotti (ATP 399) will also be there again. The organizers have given their wild card to an up-and-coming talent. “We have chosen Joy Vigani,” explained tournament director Roland Sandrin, “the association’s wild cards will be announced shortly. The local futures players Alexander Weis and Manfred Fellin will be seen in the qualification. We still have to decide who will receive the wild cards for qualification.”
