Thiem and Djokovic are fighting for the London final

Djokovic earned a place in the semifinals of the ATP Finals on Friday in the decisive group game of the “Tokyo 1970” pool against Alexander Zverev. The Serb defeated the German 96:6, 3:7 after 6 minutes.

Djokovic is aiming for his 6th title in London and could draw level with record winner Roger Federer (Switzerland). As group 2. he now meets the winner of the “London 2020” group, Thiem. In the second semi-final, the other pool winner Daniil Medvedev (Russia) and the 2-time major winner Rafael Nadal (Spain) will play for a place in the final.

“If he's in a good mood, he's probably the best player in the field indoors on a hard court,” said Thiem, referring to Djokovic. Apart from the five-set defeat in the final of this year's Australian Open, Thiem celebrated one of his most valuable victories to date against Djokovic in the O2 Arena last year. At that time, Thiem defeated the Serbs 6:7, 6:3, 7:6. “That was perhaps the best three-set match I’ve ever played,” Thiem recalled.
