Tsitspipas and Medvedev in the semi-finals

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev confidently reached the semi-finals at the Internazionali d'Italia in Rome. Both moved into the next round with a two-set win.

Late in the evening it was Tsitsipas' turn against Croatian Borna Coric (ATP 16th). The Greek, who is currently ranked 5th in the world, lived up to his role as favorite and celebrated an easy victory. After 1:37 hours he used his first match point to make it 6:3, 6:4.

Both were very focused in their own service game. In the first set it took Tsitsipas until the score was 4:3 before Coric conceded the first and ultimately decisive break to make it 5:3. In the second set, Tsitsipas took serve from his opponent when the score was 1:1 and then brought the game to an end safely.

Medvedev rushes into the semi-finals

Daniil Medvedev was in an even greater hurry at the Foro Italico. The Russian defeated the German Yannick Hanfmann (ATP 101st) 1:22, 6:2 after 6:2 hours. In contrast to the evening game, the afternoon game was a real break festival. Hanfmann gave up his serve 6 times, Medvedev twice. In the end he closed the bag with the second match point.

Tsitsipas and Medvedev will now meet in the semi-finals, while the northern Europeans will face a duel in the second game for a place in the final. The Dane Holger Rune – he knocked Novak Djokovic out of the tournament in the quarter-finals – then competes against the Norwegian Casper Ruud.
