US Open: Karin Knapp in the third round for the first time - UPDATE

Karin Knapp literally dispatched Elena Vesnina in the first set and secured the 6-1 partial victory in exactly 25 minutes. The South Tyrolean fell behind on her first serve game and suffered a break to make it 24-0 against number 1 in the WTA rankings. The next six games were almost an exhibition run for the Luttacher, who converted the first set point after 25 minutes.

In the second set, the 27-year-old Russian fought back against the threat of defeat and managed a break to make it 2-1 when the score was 3-1. Until then, every point on the court was fought for and these four games alone lasted significantly longer than the entire first set.
