Weis reaches an ITF final for the first time

This means that the native of Bolzano is in an ITF final for the first time, after he failed in three sets in the semi-finals against German Peter Heller in August last year in St. Christina. In Tabarka, Weis celebrated his sixth victory in a row. After qualifying, the South Tyrolean eliminated number 2 seeded Swiss Jakub Paul, compatriot Simone Roncalli, his Argentinian doubles partner Nicolas Alberto Arreche and now host Aziz Dougaz. The Tunisian is at number 577 in the ATP rankings and was number 3 in Tabarka.

At the beginning of the semi-finals, not much was going well for Weis. The Bolzano player had to give up the first set 25:1 to Dougaz after 6 minutes. In the second half of the game, the “Azzurro” took a 4-0 lead and shortly afterwards converted their first set point to make it 6-1. Weis also dominated the third set, which he won again 1-37 after 6:1 hours of play. In the final tomorrow, Sunday, Weis will face Argentine young hopeful Sebastian Baez. The 18-year-old South American was number 2018 in the world in the ITF junior rankings in March 1 and has only lost one set in the tournament so far.

Weis/Arreche eliminated in the doubles semi-finals Weis and Arreche also played in the doubles semi-final against Great Britain's Toby Martin/Barnaby Smith on Saturday afternoon.
