Wozniacki announces end of career

“I have achieved everything I ever dreamed of on the tennis court,” wrote the 29-year-old under a photo from her childhood: “I have discovered that there are many things that I still want to experience outside of the tennis court.” The farewell has nothing to do with her health. Wozniacki suffers from the autoimmune disease rheumatoid arthritis.

“I won 30 WTA titles, was number one in the world for 71 weeks and competed in three Olympic Games,” she wrote, looking back on her 14-year professional career. “I’ve always said, if there’s something I’d rather be doing off the court, I’ll do it.”

In the summer, Wozniacki, currently number 37 in the world rankings, married former professional basketball player and NBA champion David Lee.

Wozniacki announces end of career

Former tennis world number one Caroline Wozniacki will end her career after the Australian Open 2020 (January 20 to February 2). The Danish Melbourne winner from 2018 announced her decision on Friday via Instagram.
