WTA Monterrey: Another first round defeat for Karin Knapp
As in Indian Wells and Miami, Karin Knapp was once again eliminated in the first round of the WTA hard court tournament in Monterrey in Mexico ($500.000 in prize money). The 26-year-old from Luttach im Ahrntal, number 7 on the seeding list, surprisingly had to admit defeat to 1-year-old Serbian Jovana Jaksic, number 35 in the world, 20:137, 3:6 in 4:6 hours of play.
