Two South Tyrolean victories at the national youth tournament in St. Georgen

There was even a South Tyrolean final for the twelve-year-old girls. Anna Katharina Palla from Kaltern met Nadine Vinatzer from ATC Ladinia in the final. Palla, number 1 on the seed list, lived up to her role as favorite and easily dispatched the 10 U2015 national champion 6:0, 6:0.

Lukas Palla caused a big surprise for the U12 boys. The 4.2 player from TC Kaltern beat Leonardo Queirolo from Liguria 6:1, 6:2 in the semifinals, before defeating number 3 seed Luca Pintus in two sets 7:6, 6:4 in the final the barriers. Palla didn't drop a set in the entire tournament.

Irene Garbo from Sardinia also reached the final of the U14 without losing a set. In the semifinals she eliminated top seed Carla Margelli (4.1) 7:6, 6:4, and in the final she defeated Allegra Mondo from Piedmont in two sets 6:3, 6:4.

For the boys, Christian Romagnoli from CT Ussa narrowly missed out on the title. The 3.5 player lost the final for the U14 title against the top favorite from Liguria, Filippo Verdese, with no chance 0:6, 1:6.

In the U16 boys, however, the players from Lombardy dominated, having three of the four semi-finalists in their ranks. Tommaso Barelli beat Simone Locatelli 6-0, 6-1 in the semi-finals, while Matteo Liusso celebrated a 6-2, 6-1 win against Stefano Pinzan from TC Bozen. But Liusso had nothing to gain against Barelli in the final. He lost to the top favorites 3:6, 2:6.

The title for the youngest (U10) also went to Lombardy. Both Carla Giambelli and Filippo Alfano won their age groups.

Two South Tyrolean victories at the national youth tournament in St. Georgen

330 young people between the ages of 9 and 16 took part in the national Raiffeisen youth tournament in St. Georgen. In this strong tournament, South Tyrol achieved two victories. Both Anna Katharina Palla and Lukas Palla, both from TC Kaltern, prevailed in the U12 age groups.
