South Tyrol's ping-pong virtuosos are back in action

Jordy Piccolin plays in Messina in the men's A1. The first game against Norbello was postponed to February 6th. So Messina doesn't start against Reggio Emilia until January 23rd. Eppan's ladies lose In the women's A1, ASV Eppan Table Tennis lost 1-4 against Cortemaggiore. Newcomer Mària Fazekas from Hungary won the first match 3-1 against Jamila Laurenti. Debora Vivarelli was in the lead 1-0 and 8-6 against the strong Russian Kulikova Olga before losing 1-3. 17-year-old Evelyn Vivarelli had a pitch-black day and lost 0-3 to Arianna Barani. Fazekas then lost 0-3 to Kulikova, but all three sets ended in overtime. Diana Styhar last played instead of Evelyn and led in the first set 1-7 against Laurenti before losing the set and then the game 1-1. Next weekend Eppan's players would have had to play against Quattro Mori in Sardinia but the game was postponed due to a positive Covid case in the opposing team. ASV Eppan Table Tennis and Sarnthein are playing in the men's B1 this year. Only the first half of the season will be played in men's B1, B2 and C1. In this first round, Sarner took a break because Mestre withdrew. This year the association gave the clubs the opportunity to withdraw before the start of the championship so that the league could be retained next year. Eppan's men also suffered an opening defeat ASV Eppan Tischtennis played against one of the two title contenders on Sunday morning in Bagnolo San Vito and lost 2-5. Another South Tyrolean team, ASV Tramin, has also withdrawn from the men's C1. SSV Bozen and TTK Marling had no game. Only ASC Passeier played and started the new season with a win. They won 5-3 against Vilazzano. The brothers Benjamin and Lukas Pichler scored twice and Dhara Zöggeler scored once. Next week the ASC Auer will also play at the start of the women's Serie B. In Treviso they play against Kras and Treviso on January 24th.
